While the developers are certainly working on things behind closed doors that their players haven't seen yet, this sentiment makes it seem unlikely that the breadth of content being kept from players is enough to take the game from where it currently is to its full release. As stated by Vincke and Walgrave, Larian's philosophy with keeping Baldur's Gate 3 in early access was to present players with features so they could provide feedback before things were finalized.

If Larian has been holding out on its players in order to make the full release feel more momentous, players of the early access version should be in for a pleasant surprise next year. Ahead of a targeted 2023 release, that sounds promising, but it also implies that there is a whole host of features and content that has been worked on behind the scenes without being added to early access. Baldur’s Gate III is available now on Steam Early Access. Baldur’s Gate 3 is an incredibly polished game already, and despite being in early access, it is reasonably well optimised, beyond the obvious stunning graphics, cinematic score and world-class voice acting, four areas really impressed me. Baldurs Gate 3 is coming to Steam Early Access for PC gamers later in 2020, with other platforms and release dates still unknown. DOS2 was, at least in part, a proof of concept for Baldur’s Gate III.

Baldur’s gate 3 plays almost identical to Divinity OS2, but with slightly upgraded graphics, more voice acting, a different. Suspected appeal to Divinity Fans: 10/10. Little to no evidence of the previous games influence, but the things that drew you to BG1&2 Might also draw you to BG3.

Baldur’s Gate III doesn’t look like DOS2. Forged with the new Divinity 4.0 engine, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a world that reacts to your choices.
